Leonard 'LowDown' Brown is one of my personal faves!.Leonard brought a piece of Chicago with him when he moved to Houston, but treats the southern influences as even-handedly as as the northern ones. In fact, Leonard treats all of his influences pretty well, and his blues reflect everything from Motown to rock-n-roll. His self-produced CD shows that he's not afraid to use digital instruments and effects, but onstage it's just four men and their blues! As I write this, Leonard is prparing to take the band to Memphis to represent Houston, after winning the recent Houston Blues Society sponsored contest!.... gds10/98 |

Adam Burchfield rocks! His love is rockabilly, but he mixes the blues into the show whenever his band, The Octanes, perform around town. BTW, Adam and his drummer, Steve Candalari, are looking real hard for their musical soulmate on the upright bass.....gds6/98

Tom Potter plays guitar with his Zydeco Dots. When jam time comes, Tom adds those Louisiana rhythms to the sound, and everybody starts getting a craving for boudin and etouffe! Well, at least I do!

| I met Michael Williams about eighteen years ago at KPFT Radio. His Dad, Junior Medlowe, was playing a benefit party for the public radio station and brought Michael along. He's a killer guitar player! Growing up around all that | | music (Chris Duarte was the guitarist in Dad's band) made Michael a natural. Now that he's moved from Lubbock to Houston (by way of Hawaii), we've gotten to play together a lot more that the old yearly jam at Buffalo's. |

Texas Johnny Brown is getting a lot of attention overseas recently, and he deserves it. He's a funk and rock and boogie from the swamp kind of blues player, and had a list of road credits that would blow your mind When Johnny's in the house, it's gonna rock!

Paul 'Pablo' Burnette is one hell of a finger-picker. When this guy is onstage, playing your material, the texture of the musical fabric is treated to a new thickness that can border on bliss. Very few of the guys I jam with can handle true country blues like Pablo.
